Unlock Faith's Hidden Joy

Do you ever feel like you're on a spiritual treadmill, going through the motions without truly connecting with God? You're not alone! Many of us have been there, and it's a place where I once found myself. However, as your sister in faith, I want to share my journey of discovery and growth in the realm of spiritual disciplines. Together, we'll uncover the joy and fulfillment that come from deepening our connection with God.

In the early days of my faith journey, my spiritual disciplines resembled those of a baby Christian. I read my Bible and prayed as I was instructed, but it felt routine and somewhat disconnected. It's like learning to walk, it says in Psalm 119:105 (NIV) "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path," those first wobbly steps might not be graceful, but they're essential for growth.

As I continued to walk with the Lord and matured in my faith, a hunger for God's presence began to stir within me. That's when I decided to level up my spiritual discipline. Fasting became a regular practice, and I consistently tithed, knowing that God honors our obedience. I’m reminded of one of my favorite Bible verses, "Come near to God and he will come near to you." James 4:8 (NIV) This is what SIP is all about! Sitting in proximity to God and He will draw near. It's the gradual upgrading from crawling, and walking to running in the marathon of faith!

You might wonder, "Why go through all this?" Well, I'm here to tell you that disciplined living can be incredibly joyful. Some may call it predictable, even "boring," but there's a profound sense of contentment in knowing you're living in alignment with God's will. Think of it as a new rhythm of God's grace!

"You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence."

Psalm 16:11 (NIV)

I've been asked, "Why do you send out a newsletter? How do you find time for it all?" The first question has a straightforward answer. I send out a newsletter to support you on your faith journey. "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV) My goal is to help you draw near to God and each other because when we come together, God shows up in incredible ways. He's truly amazing!

As for the second question, my secret is simple: God has my unwavering "yes." I thrive on discipline and stick to my routines as best as I can. It's not about being "boring"; it's about finding delight in the consistent pursuit of God's presence. There's so much Christian content out there that it can be overwhelming, but my genuine desire is to empower every woman to run her race with unwavering strength, embracing the unique role God has for her.

Now, it's your turn to unlock the joy of spiritual disciplines! Start by taking those baby steps: read your Bible, pray, and seek God's presence. As you grow in faith, don't be afraid to level up—fast, tithe, and obey God's guidance promptly in whatever He is calling you to do. Embrace discipline with a heart full of joy, knowing that it brings you closer to the One who loves you unconditionally.

My call to action for you is simple: embrace your faith journey with enthusiasm and commitment. Find joy in the discipline, and remember, I'm here for you every step of the way. Just as I launched my newsletter on the day my girls were adopted, symbolizing my support, always know that God has you securely in His loving care.

So, sweet sis, are you ready to unlock the joy of spiritual disciplines and take your faith to new heights? God is eager to walk this path with you and gently hold your hand in this next season. Let's move in the rhythm of His grace, together!
