Do the Job Without the Title

Here’s the thing:
If you're waiting on a title to start leading, you're already behind.
There are women out here doing the job, running the room, raising the standard—without ever being handed a mic, a badge, or a fancy job description. And guess what? People are still looking to them.
Because when you carry sound leadership, people feel it.
When you carry God’s authority, people recognize it—even if your name’s not on the church program or the org chart.
“Do the job without a title.”
That’s what one of my Bible school professors said to me. And I’ve never forgotten it.
Because titles can be political.
They can be given for the wrong reasons.
And sometimes—let’s be honest—they’re given to people who couldn’t lead their way out of a paper bag.
A title doesn’t equal trust.
Position doesn’t equal presence.
And just because someone’s in charge doesn’t mean they’re worth following.
Let’s not forget:
“A leader without followers is just someone going on a walk.”
Jesus led without demanding a title.
He didn’t need to climb a ladder—He came down from heaven with authority already given.
He didn’t have to chase approval—He was affirmed by the Father at His baptism:
“This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” – Matthew 3:17
Jesus had full permission and authority from God—as a Son. He didn’t need man's validation.
He didn’t wait for a platform to start.
He didn’t wait for a pulpit to speak.
And He didn’t need religious leaders to agree with Him before He moved in truth.
He led fishermen, outcasts, and broken people not because He lacked leadership—but because He embodied it.
He was the example. The Word made flesh. The Shepherd who walked ahead and laid His life down.
So here’s what I’m telling you:
You don’t have to be voted in to be valid.
You don’t have to be promoted to proceed.
You don’t have to be announced to be anointed.
Stop waiting to be called “Leader” before you act like one.
If people are looking to you for wisdom, strength, direction—that means something.
That’s God’s nudge.
That’s your proximity leadership in action.
So, why don’t we lead?
Because too many of us are waiting for permission.
Waiting for someone to notice us, pick us, name us.
But God already did.
He put the gift in you.
He placed the mantle on you.
And sis, He’s not waiting for anyone else to cosign it.
The world doesn’t need more polished titles.
The world needs more women who walk in God’s authority with humility and fire.
Here’s Your Leadership Litmus Test:
Are people looking to you for direction—even without a title?
Do others lean in when you speak?
Are you holding space for others, creating peace, building something that lifts others up?
Then guess what?
You’re already leading.
So LEAD, girl.
Stop downplaying your voice.
Stop holding your power hostage because your name isn’t on a sign.
Stop waiting for the room to give you permission when God already gave you the assignment.
Because the ones doing the work?
The ones showing up with consistency and soundness and grace?
They’re not asking for authority.
They’re walking in it.
Let’s go.
