“God, please let me do tired well.”
This is my daily prayer. It’s a simple prayer, yet it’s a necessary one for me to feel grounded in my day-to-day grind as well as service to God in all areas of my life.
By now, most of you know me. But, for those of you who don’t, let me tell you something you should know. In all areas of my life- family, work, church- I’m in a leadership role, whether I like it or not (and considering I like things a certain way, I usually LOVE it). But, love it or not, I’m here to tell you as the “Boss Lady”, a nickname my work team so lovingly gave me, I am in fact TIRED. Tired of… well, it’s complicated. But, I digress.
If you’re anything like me, you have a craving to do more with your life- a passion that drives you to fulfill God’s purpose for you, which He put you on this Earth to complete. No matter how big or small the task, you move onward regardless of how tired you feel. In short, your day doesn’t end after a nine-hour workday. In fact, your day has only begun.
Now, please don’t misunderstand me. Serving God is not a burden. I may not understand everything He has me do. But, I do know this- I could be tired, completely exhausted from every other aspect of my life, yet if God calls me to serve in any capacity, I am immediately filled with energy. Our day may not be finished, but we are energized because we’re working for the KING.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24
